How To Apply

Complete the online enquiry form below, or from a Destination page.

After receiving your Expression of Interest form, we’ll schedule a phone call or in-person meeting with you and your parent/guardian. It is conducted by one of our friendly and experienced team members so there’s no need to be nervous!

The discussion is so we can get to know you, understand your motivation for going on exchange and assess how you will adapt to new situations and the challenges of being an exchange student. You will also be able to ask any questions you may have.

Following the interview, we will ask you to complete an online application form then we will review it and may contact you for additional information if required.

When you have been accepted, we will notify you, and our overseas partner will start looking for a suitable host family and school for you. We will set up a payment plan for you, and full payment must be made 60 days before departure.

Prior to departure one of our team members will conduct a pre departure briefing with you and your parent/guardian and give you the opportunity to ask any last-minute questions.

Then the countdown begins!

While proficiency in the language of your destination country is not required, we encourage you to start learning the language to better prepare for your exchange.

During your interview we’ll outline the expectations and requirements of the Students of the World exchange program. This ensures that students understand and accept the responsibilities of being an exchange student on our program.

Students are required to demonstrate emotional and physical suitability, maturity, and a commitment to embracing the exchange experience.

For most destinations, students must be between 14 and 18 years old at the time of departure. As some countries have different age requirements, please check the destination you are interested in.

We are fully committed to ensuring our students and host families have a fun and safe experience. To help facilitate this, Students of the World and our international partners have developed a set of rules and conditions that are clearly communicated with students and their family.

If a student fails to follow these conditions, Students of the World, in consultation with our international partner, reserve the right to cancel the student off the program and return to their home country at their expense.
