If you are interested in developing your leadership skills, meeting new people, travelling and seeing what it is like to work overseas, then this might be the perfect opportunity for you! Summer camps for students are run across the USA beginning in June. Joining the BUNAC Summer Camp USA program means participating in one of these programs as a camp leader – allowing you to develop interpersonal and independence skills, practice leadership and work in a field you enjoy.Â

University exchange programsÂ
If one exchange wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck! Many universities offer students the opportunity to participate in exchange programs that allow them to study in a partner institution for a set amount of time (usually a semester or a year). Very similar to a high school program, you will be immersed in the local life and culture of your country while studying. However, while universities may offer support in planning the exchange, it is usually up to you to book your flights and insurance and sometimes you may even need to plan where you stay. Luckily, you’re one step ahead of the rest having already been on exchange, so you will have the skills, tools and experience to guide you on your new adventure! Some universities also offer shorter programs related to a specific area of research or study. Check on your university’s website or get in contact with them to see what might be available to you. You can’t do too many exchange programs in our opinion!Â
Volunteer abroad programs Â
There are multiple organisations that give people the opportunity to travel abroad for volunteering and allow them to explore their interests, see a new part of the world and most importantly, make a genuine difference to local and global communities. Roles range from helping animals to providing teaching services to conducting important research and much more. This is an important and productive way to explore new cultures and languages and to contribute to making positive difference. Teaching English abroadÂ
If you are interested in helping communities abroad learn English while you learn about their language and culture, then teaching abroad might be an excellent option for you! To get started, all you need to do is complete the TEFL training (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). There are jobs available abroad and online – or you could even do a mix of both! This is a wonderful way to make a difference and experience another culture. Plus, better understanding the structures and rules of one language generally helps you learn others with more ease.Â
